What a summer so far! Slingshot across the country: to DC, to Michigan, pretty soon to Corning, NY and then to Colorado and Utah!
Today, my show with my wonderful friend and running bud, Melanie Hart, opens at the Art Academy of Cincinnati with the opening reception happening next week on Final Friday. Here are some pictures of my “soot wallpaper” piece during install yesterday. A 12 hour install, I might add. The final work has a cast glass mirror and video beneath showing a forest fire.
In DC, I saw the amazing Joan Miro exhibit at the National Gallery of Art. Never having been a big fan, I was really schooled. What an amazing body of work. I also got to see Ai Wewei’s bronze zodiac heads outside the Hirshhorn and also was delighted in coming across a show of Foon Sham’s work in a U street area gallery.
Getting ready to go to Corning to study glass at the studio there. When I return, we are flying to Colorado to do some camping and rock climbing! Can’t wait!
